The UNDP Nature Pledge was launched in December 2023, as UNDP’s flagship commitment to halt and reverse nature loss and the degradation of our planet’s vital ecological systems. It is supporting countries to achieve their goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and is aligned to the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.2024 exceeded expectations with rapid but necessary pace of ambition, establishing a momentum which is strengthening global partnerships, mobilizing ‘finance for finance’ investments, and accelerating policy reform across all three shifts of transformational change. At UNDP we know that human development and our planet’s ecological systems are indivisibly interlinked. Humanity is part of the web of life on Earth upon which our collective survival, wellbeing and prosperity depend. The only thriving future is one where our global systems are regenerative, sustainable and circular and work with, not against, Nature. Sustainable farming, sustainable infrastructure, sustainable cities and sustainable lifestyles are the future of regenerative growth. They promise new jobs, new opportunities, improving equalities and desirable futures, which brings with them increasing stability, security and peace.
