Its primary purpose is to promote foreign investment in its Member States by providing a neutral and reliable forum for dispute settlement between investors and States. Established in 1966 under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention), ICSID offers a unique legal framework and specialized expertise that help foster favorable investment climates.
