Upstream support will focus on public policy and institutions. Midstream support will target market functioning; feasibility studies for the advancement, design, and de-risking of Green Port projects; and the expedited development and implementation of green port projects. They serve as gateways to access global markets, strengthening their economic potential. The economic impact of ports extends beyond their immediate operations, encompassing a wide range of skills and employment, and supporting services within the maritime and port sectors. Ports are critical nodes for island communities, enabling the import of essential goods such as building materials, fuel, vehicles, machinery, and food, as well as servicing emergency relief and provisions, especially after disasters.
