It adapts the “damage and loss assessment” methodology developed by ECLAC to estimate potential future economic impacts of disasters, including those linked to extreme weather events and climate change. The report presents a potential methodology to estimate loss and damage from slow-onset events, such as sea level rise, using a case study of the Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria, Egypt. The findings are illustrative and aim to inform future assessments.
