There’s no reason Ballina, Broome, Broken Hill, Biloela, Bairnsdale and Batemans Bay shouldn’t enjoy the same technologically aided convenience as Brisbane. With that in mind, from now until the end of the year, Uber Eats will more than double its footprint in regional Australia, bringing our service to over 100 new towns. As our technology switches on in these regions our offering will become available to nearly 1 million more regional residents than it did just 12 months earlier, unlocking economic opportunities at scale for the regions.In line with our expanding regional footprint, and to better understand the economic and societal impact of online food delivery in regional communities, Uber Eats has partnered with leading consultancy Oxford Economics to assess the contribution to these locations. This report that follows, brings together their independent economic analysis, along with Uber Eats and third-party data, to quantify how food delivery benefits businesses, consumers, and local economies.The findings show that online food delivery is more than just a convenience - it’s a real driver of economic growth. In 2025, restaurants in newly launched Uber Eats locations are projected to generate nearly $45 million in additional revenue. The arrival of Uber Eats is also expected to contribute $19 million to GDP, driving job creation and bolstering local supply chains.
