Protectionism and unilateralism are on the rise, the world's geopolitical landscape is in the midst of turmoil and adjustment, and globalization is on the wane. The global pandemic of COVID-19 has further hindered the cross-border flow of people, goods, services, capital and information, and accelerated the evolution of anti-globalization. Against the backdrop, the restructuring of global cities has begun to emerge.In the face of anti-globalization, the concept of inclusive globalization under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) gives more countries the opportunity to join hands and deeply participate in globalization, injecting new impetus and fresh momentum into the global economy. Based on the concept of inclusive globalization, our perspective on global cities - “synergy among three networks” and “five major goals” of the Belt and Road Initiative - can better reveal the turbulent changes in global cities. This year, we have made new observations on the hotspots and trends of globalization amid the COVID-19 pandemic and optimized the Index for Dynamic Cities with Global Value and Index for Belt and Road Potential Cities to assess the performance of global cities under the stress test of globalization.We have found that urban resilience and new economy are reshaping global cities. With the localization and fragmentation of global supply chain and industrial value chain, the trend of regionalization of global cities is further strengthening. China has transformed from a participant and beneficiary of globalization to a supporter and promoter.
